Odoo is a suite of connected business apps covering sales, accounting, inventory, point of sale, eCommerce and HR in one system. It suits a company that wants its departments working in one system that can grow, provided it is implemented well, starting with the apps you actually need.
Step by step
- 1
Two editions
Odoo Community is open source and can be used without license fees, while Odoo Enterprise is licensed by subscription and adds apps and features including full accounting, the Studio customization tool, mobile apps, support and upgrades.
- 2
Three hosting options
Odoo Online on the vendor's own cloud, the Odoo.sh cloud hosting platform, or installation on your company's servers. Odoo Enterprise is the same software in all three, and only the hosting and infrastructure differ.
- 3
Pricing plans
As of October 2026, Odoo offers a free plan for one app with unlimited users on Odoo Online, and paid plans for all apps that differ in hosting, customization and API access. Check the official pricing page before deciding.
- 4
Localization for Egypt and Saudi Arabia
Odoo provides an accounting localization for Egypt that includes the connection to the Egyptian Tax Authority's e-invoice system, and one for Saudi Arabia that includes e-invoicing with the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority.
- 5
When it fits
When you have several departments that should work in one system, and you accept adjusting some procedures to the system's way instead of tailoring the whole system to you.
- 6
Plan the implementation
Start with two or three apps that solve the biggest problem, clean your data before migrating, and keep custom code to a minimum because it makes upgrades harder.
Installing every app at once because it is available buries the team in screens it does not need. Turn on each app when you are ready to use it.
