An early pension needs at least 300 months of actual contributions, and the pension must reach 50% of the settlement wage and the minimum pension. It is governed by item 6 of Article 21 of Social Insurance and Pensions Law No. 148 of 2019, which also requires that service has ended, a claim is filed and the person is not insured when filing.
Step by step
- 1
Check the contribution period
At least 300 months of actual contributions, or 25 years. It was 240 months in the first five years of the law.
- 2
Estimate the pension
Settlement wage times contribution years, divided by your age factor from Table 5. The younger you are, the larger the factor and the smaller the pension.
- 3
Compare it with 50%
The condition is met if your contribution years are at least half the factor. With a pension age of 60, the factor at age 55 is 60, so 30 years are needed, and at age 58 it is 50, so 25 years are enough.
- 4
Check the minimum
The calculated pension must also be no less than the minimum pension, EGP 1,755 in 2026.
- 5
End service, then file the claim
The pension is paid from the first of the month in which the claim is filed, provided you are not insured on that date, under Articles 21 and 25.
Many people rely on the 25-year condition alone and then have their claim refused. The deciding condition is usually the 50% of the settlement wage, so calculate it with your age factor before you resign.
