Search through official channels, and pay nothing for a job or a visa beyond what the law allows a licensed recruitment agency. Check the employer and the contract before you travel, because the work visa and work permit are obtained by the employer, not by an intermediary who asks you for money.
Step by step
- 1
Official channels
Careers pages on company websites, well-known job platforms and licensed recruitment agencies. In Egypt, the Ministry of Labor's website has a section for jobs abroad.
- 2
Pay only what the law allows
In Egypt, Article 43 of Labor Law No. 14 of 2025 bans taking any money from a worker for placing him in a job, except that a private employment agency licensed by the Ministry of Labor may charge administrative fees of no more than 1% of his wage for the first year only. Any other request for money for a job offer, a visa or holding a place is a warning sign of fraud, however serious the offer looks.
- 3
Check the employer
Look up the company, its website and its address, and make sure whoever contacts you uses an email address in the company's name, not a free personal one.
- 4
Check the recruitment agency
If you deal with a recruitment agency, ask for its license and verify it with the Ministry of Labor in your country before any step.
- 5
Read the contract before you travel
Job title, salary, allowances, housing, working hours and contract length, written in a language you understand. Keep a copy.
- 6
The visa comes through the employer
The work visa and work permit are obtained by the employer, so do not travel on a verbal promise, and save your embassy's contact numbers in the country you are going to.
An offer that comes without an interview, at a salary far above the market, or with pressure to decide and pay quickly deserves suspicion before excitement.
