Egypt's private sector minimum wage is EGP 7,000 a month as of October 2026, under a National Council for Wages decision in force since 1 March 2025. The decision sets at least EGP 28 net per hour for temporary part-time work, and Article 104 of Labor Law No. 14 of 2025 requires establishments to apply the Council's decisions.
Step by step
- 1
Which wage it applies to
The decision ties the minimum to the definition of wage in the Labor Law, which is everything the worker receives for his work, and Article 108 says what the worker receives may not be less than the minimum wage.
- 2
Check every employee
Compare each employee's pay with the minimum, especially entry-level jobs and temporary part-time work.
- 3
New work patterns
The minimum wage guarantee applies to workers in the new work patterns such as remote and part-time work, under Article 97.
- 4
Records and inspection
Article 105 requires paper or electronic records of employees and their wages, which the ministry's routine inspections check.
- 5
Penalty
Breaching Articles 104 and 108 carries a fine of EGP 2,000 to 20,000, multiplied by the number of workers and doubled for a repeat offense, under Article 287.
The National Council for Wages sets the minimum under Article 102 and meets at least every six months under Article 103, so check its latest decision before each payroll cycle rather than relying on an old figure.
